Directions
From Winter Park, Follow the directions to the Roger's Pass Trail: Go southeast of Highway 40 to the Rollin's Pass Road (County Road 80/Forest Road 149) just across from the Winter Park Ski Area. Drive up the road about 11 miles toward Rollin's Pass to the first trestle, the rifle sight notch. Follow Trail #1495A (an old 4x4 road) directly across the road from the trestle, heading south. From Roger's Pass summit, follow the trail that goes south-southwest. The trail parallels the ridge on the west side. The last 1/2 mile to the peak has no trail.
Location Information
The James Peak Trail begins at Roger's Pass, which is accessed from the Roger's Pass Trail. From Roger's Pass it climbs to 13,294 feet James Peak. The last 1/2 mile of the peak has no actual trail.

This trail is above timberline. It provides views of both sides of the Continental Divide.
