From Granby, Travel west on Highway 40 approximately 14 miles to County Road 3/Forest Road 139. Travel south on Road 3/139 a total of about 22 miles, ( about 5 miles up Keyser Creek) to Forest Road 136. Go right on 136 and follow about 2 1/2 miles to the Lake Evelyn Trailhead.
Location Information
The Lake Evelyn Trail begins on an old logging road which has been closed to motorized use. The road continues for approximately 1.5 miles before turning into a trail. The beginning of the trail is an easy to moderate hike, however, it becomes more difficult as it approaches the lake. Above the lake, the trail is very steep and rocky as it climbs up onto the alpine ridge. Once on the ridge, access is provided to either the St. Louis Divide or Kinney Creek Trails. This trail leads through the Byers Peak Wilderness. Remember, motorized or mechanized vehicles (such as bicycles) are NOT permitted.
