Directions
From Young, Travel State Highway #288 to Reynolds Creek and turn onto FR #410 two and a half miles to the junction of FR #235. Turn left and travel one half mile to the trailhead at Cienga Spring. Take the Cienga Trail to its junction with McFadden Horse Trail #146.
Location Information
This trail offers access to the Sierra Ancha Wilderness, good views of Cherry Creek Drainage, Fort Apache Indian Reservation and the Mogollon Rim. The trail climbs McFadden Horse Mountain. The trail dead-ends overlooking Elephant Rock. Wildlife in the area includes black bear, mountain lion, deer, and the Peregrine Falcon. There are campsites at Cienega Springs Trailhead and on top of McFadden Horse Mountain. The trail is a steep cliff overlooking Cherry Creek.
