Directions
From Rifle, Go north on State Highway 13 for 1 mile. Turn right on Highway 325 for 11 miles to the Forest Boundary then continue about 2 miles on Forest Road 832 to the picnic area.
Location Information
Spruce Picnic Area is located 16 miles north of Rifle and just north of Rifle Mountain Park. It includes four individual picnic sites and one group site. The group site is available by reservation only and offers two horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, a wheelchair accessible vault toilet and ample parking. Stream fishing is available in East Rifle Creek, adjacent to the picnic area, with required fishing license. Three Forks Campground and Three Forks Trail are located just to the north of the picnic ground.

*Three Forks Campground and Trailhead is located two miles north of the picnic ground.
*Rifle Mountain Park, one mile south, offers rock climbing, ice climbing in the winter, trails and camping.
*Rifle Falls and Rifle Falls Fish Hatchery are also nearby.
*Little Box Canyon, just north of the picnic area, offers 4-wheel driving, dispersed camping, wildlife viewing, fishing, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
*Coulter Mesa, to the west, offers wildlife viewing and big-game hunting.
