Directions
From La Veta, Take Highway 12 south from La Veta, through Cuchara and past the turnoff for Cuchara Mountain Resort. Cuchara Recreation Area is a right turn onto Forest Road 422 . Along the first two miles of the road are the Day Use and Parking Areas. All day use picnic sites include at least one unit which is handicapped accessible.
Location Information
Cuchara Day Use Picnic Site #1 has three constructed picnic sites with tables
and pedestal grills, and available parking for four vehicles (6 more within 200 feet). There is no drinking water but a toilet is located 300 feet from the site at the intersection of Hwy. 12 and Forest Road 422 and garbage cans are provided.
