From Steamboat Springs, CO, Travel 22 miles southeast of Steamboat Springs on US Highway 40 to the picnic ground. It is located north of the highway near the east summit of Rabbit Ears Pass.
Location Information
Dumont Lake Picnic Ground sits adjacent to Dumont Lake, west of Steamboat Springs on Rabbit Ears Pass. It is located near the east summit of Rabbit Ears Pass, at an elevation of 9,556 feet. The picnic area has 11 sites with tables and fireplace grates. Dumont Lake Campground, is also located in this area. The area borders on the Continental Divide and sits on top of the Park Range, offering spectacular views of several Colorado mountain ranges. Dumont lake is restricted to electric motors or hand propelled boats only. The area offers fly fishing in both lakes and streams, access to hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking on the many nearby dirt roads and trails. Bird watchers and wildflower enthusiasts will find this area a paradise.
