Idlewild Picnic Ground is located approximately 10 miles southwest of the small town of Lake George, Colorado. Visitors may reach this site by taking County Road 96 south from Lake George to Elevenmile Canyon. The picnic ground consists of 5 sites, each with a table and a fire grate. There is no drinking water or trash collection on site. Picnic ground facilities include vault toilets. The picnic ground is located on the South Platte River within 21 miles of Elevenmile State Recreation Area and Reservoir and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Recreation opportunities include: fishing (on the River's Gold Medal Waters) and the Reservoir; hiking, biking, horseback riding, motorcycling and four-wheel driving.
