From Gunnison, An alternative access is from Highway 50. Travel an additional two to three miles north on Monarch Pass to the sign that reads "Agate Creek". Park at this sign and follow the trail that leads to Agate Creek Trail, 484.
Location Information
Access to Agate Creek begins from the now closed Agate Creek Campground. The abandoned campground lies approximately three miles north of Sargents, on the south side of the road. Agate Creek Trail, 484, follows the creek for seven miles to its headwaters. (You may also gain access to the creek approximately three miles north of the campground on Highway 50.)The creek, from the campground upstream, is entirely on public land. A mile downstream, from the abandoned campground, private land begins. The creek has rainbow, brook and native trout (at the higher elevations).
