From Taylor Park Road, From Taylor Park Road, travel one mile north of the junction with Cottonwood Pass Road. Turn right on Texas Creek Road, #755 (signed). Location Information
The headwaters of Texas Creek originate in alpine lakes of the Sawatch Range. The stream flows in a southwesterly direction from the tarns of the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness to the waters of the Taylor River. Texas Creek crosses the Taylor Park Road a third of a mile north of it's junction with Cottonwood Pass. Heavy willows line the lower stretches of this ten-foot wide meandering stream. Deep pools and riffles support rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout and good fishing. The Texas Creek four-wheel drive road ends at 9,400 feet where the wilderness boundary begins. Beautiful scenery makes the Timberline Trail access, from Cottonwood Pass, worth the walk.
