From Hattiesburg, Take U.S. Highway 49 south to Brooklyn. From Brooklyn, take County Road 301 east to Janice. At Janice, turn south on Forest Service Road 305 for three miles, then turn south on Forest Service Road 305-B to the landing.
Location Information
Cypress Creek Landing and campground sits on a high bluff overlooking the Black Creek Wild and Scenic River, near Janice. It is one of the more popular camping areas on the Black Creek. Black Creek Wilderness Area is adjacent to Cypress Creek Landing. Facilities include 15 camping/picnicking sites with tent pads, picnic tables, and fire rings/grills. Other provisions include drinking water, refuse containers, 4 toilets, and a concrete boat ramp. This recreation area is open all year. No user fees are charged. Handicapped Accessibility: The roads within the site are the access routes; they are covered with hard packed gravel and are useable. Camping/picnicking sites are lined with landscape timbers and surfaced with loose pea gravel making them inaccessible. The restrooms are accessible. The drinking water spigot is lined with landscape timbers and surfaced with wash gravel, making it inaccessible. The concrete boat launch is long, narrow, and steep; it may be challenging to some users. The slopes down to the Black Creek River are greater than 15%. The terrain is gentle in the rest of the recreation area with slopes no greater than 8%.
