From Taft, Travel eight miles south on Highway 33. Continue south for 13 miles after Highway 33 joins Highway 166. Turn south to stay on Highway 33 and travel about 20 miles, turn left (east) onto Lockwood Valley Road and travel about 17 miles east to Grade Valley Road (FS 7N03). The trailhead is located about seven miles south of Lockwood Valley Road along the Thorn Meadows Road (FS 7N03C). Travel about 10 miles from Grade Valley or 8 miles from the trailhead on Thorn Meadows Road.
Location Information
GENERAL INFORMATION: This camp is located deep in the Los Padres Backcountry, this scenic camp derives its name from the bowl shaped pools approximately 300 yards from the camp which have been known to contain trout. Trees in the area include incense Cedar and a few hardwoods. Travel is 10 miles from Grade Valley ot eight miles from the trailhead on Thorn Meadow Road. The trailhead on Grade Valley Road is located just behind the hoarse corrals before Grade Valley and Thorn Meadow junction. There are two stoves and creek water is available, however, it should be purified first. Nearest supplies are in Lake of the woods.
