Directions
From Macdoel, Travel south on US Hwy. 97 to the Goosenest Ranger District Office. Just south of the District Office, turn east on Forest Service Rd 46NO4. Follow Rd 46NO4 for about two miles to County Rd 8Q01. Turn south again and travel five miles to Shafter Campground.
Location Information
Located adjacent to Butte Creek seven miles east of the Goosenest Ranger District on Highway 97, Shafter is a tranquil campground surrounded by lush meadows which fill up with wildflowers early in the season. Butte Creek is regularly stocked with Rainbow and Brown trout and offers good fishing early in the season. During the fall hunting season, the campground fills up quickly.

Potable water and garbage service are available from May to October only. The area may be accessible during the off season with restricted services. The campground is not usable by people with disabilities. There are no group sites available.
