From The junction of of Highway 139 and County Road 97 near Tionesta, On County Road 97, go approx. 18.5 miles to Forest Service Road 43N42 and turn left, then go 1.8 mile to Forest Service Road 43N17 and go 0.3 more miles
Location Information
Located in the scenic Medicine Lake Highlands, Payne Springs is surrounded by many attractions. This campground is adjacent to the Modoc Volcanic Scenic Byway. The Lava Beds National Monument are located close by and are a great place to visit and learn about the local geology and history.

There is no potable water at these campsites, although there are vaulted toilets. There are picnic tables and fire pits at each site with fair road conditions getting to the sites.

The nearest convenience store and gasoline is located in Tionesta, California. The nearest town with services is Tulelake, California. The nearest 24 hour service and hospital are located in the town of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
