Location Information
This campground is the perfect spot for a day of fishing and or boating. Big Sage is a large, shallow reservoir surrounded by juniper woodland and sagebrush. Established to provide irrigation water, it also offers abundant recreational opportunities. A new boat ramp was constructed in 1997. A campground lies on the shore near the boat ramp. The reservoir itself occupies several thousand acres. Birds find safe refuge for nesting on a number of islands scattered across the reservoir. This campground has ten sites with a picnic table and fire pit at each site. There is no potable water and the roads to the campground are in good condition. The nearest food, gasoline, and restaurant are located in the town of Alturas, California. The nearest 24 hour services and hospital are located in Alturas, CA.
