Location Information
Because Molino Basin Campground is located low on the slopes of the Santa Catalina Mountains, it is open during the late fall, winter, and early spring, when the weather is pleasantly mild. In spring, the hillsides are carpeted with blooming penstemon, and nearby Molino Creek flows with swift, cold water. When the summer heat returns, Molino Basin Campground closes, and people drive by it to get to cooler temperatures higher on the mountain.

Set mainly in an oak studded grassland, Molino Basin Campground is surrounded by steep, rugged cliffs and granite peaks. The Arizona Trail passes through, providing access to the extensive trail system that crisscrosses the Santa Catalina Mountains.

Molina Basin offers winter camping and birding in a scenic mountain surrounding. Facilities include 37 single-family units with tables and fire rings, and one 1 barrier free unit. There is one restroom in the campground. No drinking water is available. Please bring your own.

The Arizona Trail can be accessed from this campground. No pack and saddle stock are permitted in the campground. The Sheep Management Area in nearby Pusch Ridge Wilderness is closed to dogs for the protection of desert bighorn sheep. Mountain bike access is generally east of the campground and not allowed in Wilderness. Pets must be leashed at all times.
