Location Information
Idlewild is the first campground you encounter as you enter Cave Creek from the west. You will have to ford the creek to get to these ten streamside sites that are shaded by tall Arizona cypress trees and situated at the base of the salmon and amber-colored cliffs that form the canyon. The canyon is well known for its spectacular scenery and excellent bird watching. A short distance downstream, you'll find the trailhead for the Silver Peak Trail which offers a big payoff in memorable views of the canyon and surrounding mountains as it climbs over 3,000 feet in just 4.6 miles.

Idlewild Campground is also just a short distance from the Cave Creek Visitor Information Center. The center offers interpretive programs on the natural history of this unique area.

Sites at Idlewild are best suited for tent camping. Trailers up to 16 feet are permitted.
