Location Information
A beautiful lake sits in a wooded area in the northwestern portion of Arkansas, close to White Rock and Gray's Spring. This 82-acre lake, in a mountain setting, offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities.

In 1991, the USDA Forest Service completed several projects to make the Shores Lake Recreation Area accessible to people with disabilities. The fishing piers were designed with wheelchair use in mind. They have ramps and are completely accessible. Other accessible features at the area include a ramp on the swimming beach.

Underwater structures were built to attract fish to the fishing piers. The lake is stocked with bass, catfish, and bluegills. Many visitors use the sandy beach at Shores Lake to enjoy the Ozark Mountain sunshine.

Camping for recreational vehicles (no special facilities available) and tents includes 19 single and 4 multiple units. Showers, flush toilets and drinking water are nearby. Facilities include a campground with 24 tent pads, hot showers, flush toilets, and a pavilion.

Activities at the lake include: Picnicking, that is available with 30 family units and a group picnic facility, the picnic pavilion is available for rent which opens Apr. 1, swimming (dressing rooms are available), boating with a boat launching ramp (10 hp motor limit, open Apr. 1), hiking (access to Ozark Highlands Trail) and fishing.
