From Warner Springs, Travel south on Highway 79 to the junction with Highway 76. Travel north west on Highway 76 for 13 miles to the junction with County Road S6. Travel north on S6 to the campground. Located on Palomar Mountain 2 miles north of the S6 intersection with S7.
Location Information
GENERAL INFORMATION: Observatory Campground is located on Palomar Mountain on County Road S6, approximately 2 miles north of its intersection with County Road S7. Five of the 42 units are family double sites and thirteen can accommodate trailers. You can find sites next to the meadow, underneath the oaks, or adjacent to groves of evergreens. The 2.1 mile Observatory Trail begins on the east side of the campground and ends at the Palomar Observatory parking lot. FACILITIES: Water is available along with toilets, tables, stand-up grills and fire rings. Sites normally serve 6 to eight people and 2 vehicles. There are no showers and no hookups or dump stations for trailers or recreation vehicles.
