Directions
From Fairplay, Kite Lake Campground & Trailhead are located approximately 15 miles northwest of the town of Fairplay, Colorado. Visitors may reach this site by taking State Highway 9 northwest from Fairplay for 8 miles to the town of Alma. From Alma take Highway 8 west for 2 miles. Highway 8 becomes Forest Developed Road 192, which continues for another 5 miles until it dead-ends at the campground.
Location Information
Kite Lake Campground & Trailhead are located approximately 15 miles northwest of the town of Fairplay, Colorado. The campground consists of seven sites. Each site includes a table and a fire grate. Sanitation is provided by one vault toilet. There are no garbage cans, so users must pack out what they pack out. No drinking water is provided at this site. The road leading to the campground is not recommended for passenger cars, RVs or trailers.

Kite Lake Campground provides access to the fourteeners Bross, Democrat and Lincoln. Starting from the campground, a hiker/climber in good condition can reach the summits of these three mountains in one day.
