From Colorado Springs, Drive 25 miles west on Highway 24 to Divide. Turn north on to County Road 5 and travel approximately 3/4 miles. Turn west (left) on to County Road 51 and travel 12 miles to County Road 3. Drive 3 miles to County Road 33, turn left and drive 1 mile to the campground.
Location Information
The Wildhorn Campground is located in the West Creek area eight miles north of Highway 24 and Florissant Fossil Beds on County Road 33. It has nine camp sites at least 23 feet long. The elevation is 9,100 feet and the camping season begins in May and continues into October. Potable water is provided in the form of a hand-pump.This campground is more "out of the way" than most of the Forest Service campgrounds with generally lighter use. This characteristic offers more opportunity for quiet and solitude to be found in the National Forest. Wildhorn Campground has tables, vault toilets and fire grates. Garbage collection is not provided so please "Pack out your trash" when you leave. Opportunities for motorized recreation experiences on 4 WD, ATV and
motorcycles can be found in this area through an extensive network of roads and trails with a variety of experiences available. The access roads to these areas are narrow and winding thus not well suited for large trailers or motor homes, so please drive with caution. These roads are low-level maintained and may be inaccessible in the winter. This site experiences moderate to heavy use during the Summer and Fall, and light use during the Winter and Spring.
