From Salida, Travel 18 miles east from Salida on Highway 50 to Coaldale. Turn left on County Road 6 and drive approximately 4 miles southwest to the campground. County Road 6 is paved for the first 2 miles. The last 2 miles are dirt and gravel and can be rough. Hayden Creek Campground is the last campground on County Road 6. Before you reach it you will pass Coaldale Campground.
Location Information
The Coaldale Campground is located next to the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness Area. Hayden Creek flows near the campground. The area is wooded with oak, cottonwood, pine and cedar. This campground is ideal for tent camping. Access to the upper portion of the campground is limited to a narrow road with a a small turnaround. Parking is available for RVs up to 25 feet.There are 11 available sites with a number of sites located across Hayden Creek. Services include two vault toilets, tables, fire rings and garbage dumpsters. No drinking water is available. It may be obtained at Hayden Creek campground located one mile west on County Road 6. No hookups are provided.
