From Dorrington, Travel southwest on Highway 4, than turn south on Board's Crossing/Sourgrass Road.
Location Information
Wa Ka Luu Hep Yoo (Wild River) Campground sits in a mature conifer and oak forest on the North Fork Stanislaus River at 3,900 feet. Located within the Sourgrass Recreation Complex Campground on the site of an ancient MiWuk Indian village site. Significant Native American artifacts such as grinding stones and middens have been preserved. Nearby picnic/day use area, river shore trails, and whitewater boating launch. Currently under construction. Anticipated opening: spring, 2000. It has 50 campsites, piped water, flush and vault toilets, hot showers, picnic tables and fire rings. Emergency medical services available at the Arnold Medical Clinic in the Meadowmont Shopping Center in Arnold, or at Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital inSan Andreas (Hwy. 49). Gas, groceries, camping supplies are available in Arnold and Camp Connell.
