From Steamboat Springs, Travel west of town on HWY 40 to Road 129, Elk River Road. Go north on 129 approximately 32 miles, then 1 mile west on Forest Road 047.
Location Information
The Nipple Peak East Trailhead is located north of Steamboat Springs and Steamboat Lake. The trailhead accesses trail #1147. Trail #1147 runs to the north of Nipple Peak, then south to trail #1156 on Lopez Creek and continues west to Slater Park, north of Hayden. Both trails are open to motorcycles, ATVs and snowmobiles. Trail #1147 also links to trail #1192, which is not open to motorized travel.
