From Steamboat Springs, Travel west of town to Road 129, Elk River Road. Go 18 miles north on 129 to Forest Road 400 (Seedhouse Road ). Go 8 miles northeast on Seedhouse Road, then 1 mile north on Forest Development Road 433.

This area was affected by a large tree blowdown. Contact the Hahns Peak/Bears Ears Ranger District for current conditions.

The Lost Dog Trailhead is located north of Steamboat Springs, near Seedhouse Campground. It provides access to the northern end of the Wyoming Trail #1101. From trail 1101, the traveler can access numerous other trails including the North Fork of the Elk River Trail #1152, trail #1177, trail #1154, trail #1199 and trail #1204. The section of the Wyoming Trail from Lost Dog Trailhead north is open to motorized (ATVs, motorcycles, and snowmobiles). Many of the trails which it links to are not open to motorized use.
