Directions
From Colorado Springs, If you are looking for a scenic drive prior to your hike, the Rampart Range Road offers scenicvistas of Colorado Springs and many canyons. Take the Manitou Springs exit as if going to Garden of the Gods. After going past "Balanced Rock" a sign on the left will indicate the Rampart Range Road. This route should be chosen only if you have an extra hour of driving time. During the winter, Forest Service Road 306 to Rampart Reservoir is closedwith a gate.
Location Information
Rainbow Gulch Trailhead serves the trails surrounding Rampart Reservoir. It is located on Rampart Range Road and allows users to access the reservoir area without paying the day-use fee. It accesses the Rampart Reservoir Trail most easily, but users can reach the Stanley Rim Trail, Schubarth Trail and BPW Trail from this trailhead.
