From Poncha Springs, Drive south on Highway 285 for 5.5 miles to the trailhead.
Location Information
Mears Junction is located south of Poncha Springs. This trailhead creates an access point to the Rainbow Trail. It is named for the famous pathfinder Otto Mears. Mears lived and trekked in the San Luis and Uncompahgre Valleys. Around the middle of the 19th century Mears built roads to aid settlement in the southern part of Colorado territory.
