From Weed, From the junction of Weed's Main Street and Highway 97, drive 11.5 miles on the highway to Bolam Road. Turn right onto this very rough road (recommended for four-wheel drives only). Follow this road for 2.4 miles and cross the railroad tracks. Continue another 4 miles to the end of the road at Bolam Trailhead.
Location Information
GENERAL INFORMATION: From the Bolam Trailhead, follow the old jeep road up the hill. After the first switch back, you will be able to see Whitney Falls about one mile ahead and to the west. It is approximately 1.5 miles (one way) to the falls, and the trail does not go all the way. A trail crosses Bolam Creek and continues south toward Whitney Falls. This trailhead also provides access to Whitney and Bolam Glaciers. Wilderness permits required for entry into Mt. Shasta Wilderness. Contact either Mt. Shasta Ranger District office (530)926-4511 or the McCloud Ranger District office (530)964-2184 for information on how to obtain a permit.
