From Nathrop, Drive west on County Road 162 14 miles; and then drive south on County Road 295 for 4.5 miles to trailhead.
Location Information
The Hancock Lake Trailhead is located approximately 2.5 miles south of the Hancock Townsite. The trailhead is the terminus of the Hancock Lake Trail and lies .25 miles north of the lake. The area surrounding the trailhead is filled with reminders of the mining era, which promised wealth for this region. Visitors to this site will pass the ghost towns of Romley and Hancock on their way to the trailhead.
