Directions
From Buena Vista, Drive north on Highway 24 to County Road 350. Turn left (west) on to 350 and travel approximately 2 miles. Turn north (right) on County Road 361 and drive 1 mile to County Road 365. Turn left on to 365 and follow it 5.5 miles to the trailhead.
Location Information
North Cottonwood Trailhead is located 9.5 miles northwest of Buena Vista. It provides access to the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness. The Colorado Trail crosses North Cottonwood Road (365) approximately 2 miles before the trailhead. From the trailhead hikers and horseback riders gain access to Horn Fork Trail (1449) and Kroenke (Kronkey) Lake Trail (1448). This is a good place to begin a pack trip in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness as several trails within the area intersect with the Kroenke Lake Trail.
