Directions
From Lake Alpine, Travel east on Highway 4, than turn south on a road just east of Chickaree Picnic Area. You will pass Backpacker's Campground on your left. Continue across Silver Creek to trailhead parking. The trail begins at the bend in the road, with the entrance to Silver Valley Campground just to the west.
Location Information
Silver Valley Trailhead, located just beyond Lake Alpine's eastern tip, providing access to both the Highland Creek and Tahoe-Yosemite Trails. The western portion of the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness may also be accessed from the trailhead. These areas are characterized by gentle terrain, large expanses of glacial polish granite, and red fir forest.
