From Covelo, Travel one mile north on State Hwy. #162 EAST. Travel approximately 9 miles to the Eel River Bridge. After you cross the bridge turn left on to M1/Indian Dick Rd and travel approximately 33 miles to road junction 25N15C (Lucky Lake Rd.) Turn left and continue on this road for one mile to Rock Cabin. Turn left and follow signs to the trailhead.
Location Information
Rock Cabin Trailhead provides access to the River Trail, Fern Point and Buck Ridge Trail. This trailhead offers excellent access to the wilderness's rivers and streams.A great hike from this trailhead is Rock Cabin-Fern Point. This is a steep trail coming back up from the river, but it can be done in one day. The bottom of the trail is poorly marked. Round trip is 6 miles. There are several opportunities for extended loop hikes of four days to a week or more, which offer a variety of experiences.
