From Steamboat Springs, Travel west of town on HWY 40 to Road 129, Elk River Road. Go north on 129 approximately 27 miles, then 1.5 miles west on Forest Road 488.
Location Information
The Prospector Trailhead is located north of Steamboat Springs, just north of Hahns Peak Lake on Forest Road 488. It accesses trail #1156 which connects to trail #1147. Trail #1147 goes west to Slater Park or northeast around Nipple Peak. Both of these trails are open to motorcycle, ATV and snowmobile travel.
