Saltwater State Park covers 88 acres with 1,400 feet of saltwater shoreline with two moorage buoys and 150 feet of unguarded beach. An underwater park for scuba divers has a sunken barge, a tire reef and a scuba rinse station.

There are two miles of trail in the park. The upper trails have beautiful views of Maury and Vashon Islands, the Olympic Mountains and spectacular sunsets.

Park facilities include 52 tent campsites, a group camp, four comfort stations, 128 picnic tables, 30 pedestal stoves, four picnic shelters, one kitchen shelter, two vault toilets, parking for 290 cars and a trailer dump station.

Park visitors enjoy picnicking, camping, scuba diving, hiking and clamming.

The low rolling hills and sheltered inland salt water that make up the Puget Sound basin produce a mild, marine climate characterized by wintertime clouds, rain, and sometimes a light snow, but lots of summertime sunshine.

Maximum winter temperatures are in the mid- to high 40s with minimum temperatures in the mid 30s. Summers are warm with maximum and minimum temperatures in the mid 70s and low 50s, respectively. This area averages 51 inches of precipitation per year.
