Olmstead Place State Park covers 217.8 acres. The park offers the Homestead cabin, a dairy barn, the Olmstead garage, a granary, a wagon shed, a chicken house, a pump house, the Seaton Cabin
School House, a tool shed, a milk house, a brooder house, and a woodshed. In addition, there are four display sheds, 17 picnic sites, a concrete and wooden plank bridge that crosses Coleman Creek, the Altapes Creek interpretive trail, and approximately one mile of roads. Coleman Creek provides scenic values and fishing. Park visitors may walk the 3/4 mile interpretive trail; tours are given of the Homestead cabin, the red barn, the tool shed, the Seaton Cabin School House, and equipment sheds. School field trip programs are also available.
Although there are public tours of the grounds and facilities, most of the park's activities are special events, some of which include the Annual Threshing Bee Event, the annual "Springtime on the Farm/Easter Egg Hunt" event,
The climate of Washington varies within each region. The Cascades split the state and alter the weather patterns. The terrain east of the mountains, which includes Olmstead Place State Park, receives approximately 12 inches of rainfall per year, generally much less than west of the mountains. Since the area east of the mountains is landlocked, temperatures in this region are lower during the winter months. Frequent winds coming down from the mountains also contribute to the low temperatures of eastern Washington.
