Chief Timothy State Park covers 282 acres with 11,500 feet of freshwater shoreline. The park offers 24 picnic sites, 33 utility campsites and 33 standard campsites, a trailer dump, eight sun shelters, a bathhouse, an unguarded swimming beach, an interpretive center, four boat ramps and docks, and a food concession. Across Highway 12 from the park is the administrative area with a shop and storage facilities.

Activities at the park include boating, camping, fishing, hiking, interpretation, picnicking, sightseeing, swimming, and water skiing.

Washington's climate varies with each region. The Cascades split the state and alter weather patterns. Chief Timothy State Park, located east of the mountains, receives significantly less rainfall than regions west of the mountains with an average annual precipitation of twelve inches.

Average summer temperatures are 94 degrees maximum and 50 degrees minimum. Because central Washington is landlocked and subject to winter winds, winter temperatures are much colder than those in western Washington.
