Steinaker State Park lies at an elevation of 5,500 feet in northeastern Utah. It is best known for year round fishing opportunities on Steinaker Reservoir. The park is open year round with limited services in the winter. It is heavily used on summer weekends and reservations for campsites are recommended during this season. Steinaker State Park is surrounded by Bureau of Land Management Lands and lies in close proximity to Dinosaur National Monument.Facilities at Steinaker State Park include swimming beaches, a boat launching ramp, modern rest rooms, sewage disposal station, 31 individual campsites and two group-use pavilions.
Swimming, boating and waterskiing top the list of activities at this state park. Year-round fishing is for rainbow trout and largemouth bass. Visitors will find trails for off-highway vehicles nearby in Bureau of Land Management and National Forest Lands.
This state park lies at an elevation of 5,500 feet within the northeastern portion of Utah immediately south of the easternmost Uinta Mountains. The climate is arid with hot summers and cold winters. Temperatures can vary greatly within one day so layered clothing is recommended in any season. Warm temperatures usually begin in May and last into September. Cool weather can begin in August. Warm layers should be in every campers wardrobe, as well as sunscreen, sunglasses and a brimmed hat.
