Admiral Nimitz Museum and Historical Center encompasses seven acres, that include a historic structure, military machinery, interpretive exhibits and a peace garden. Through a diverse array of exhibits and interpretive trails the site tells the story of Admiral Nimitz, from his boyhood home in Fredericksburg to his work in World War II commanding U.S. naval operations and eventually accepting the Japanese surrender. The site is open year round.The facilities at this state park include modern restrooms, a museum with interpretive exhibits, historic military machinery and memorial and victory walls for World War II. Also on site is a Veterans Walk of Honor, Plaza of the Presidents (who served in World War II), History Walk of the Pacific War and the Center for Pacific War Studies.
Recreation opportunities at this museum and historical center include viewing exhibits, listening to educational presentations, walking and viewing historical objects.
