Rivers Bridge is the only state park in South Carolina that commemorates the Civil War. Periodic educational programs and encampments are held to depict the battle and interpret military life during the Civil War. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The campground has 25 sites and accommodates RV's up to 40 feet. The sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground is closed during off-season. Three picnic shelters are available free on a first-come, first-served basis or can be reserved for a fee. A meeting area which accommodates up to 200 people can be rented. Lupine trail is an easy half-mile hiking loop. Enjoy fishing in the Salkehatchie River for bream, crappie and catfish. Private boat access to Salkehatchie River is one-half mile from park. Only canoes and boats with trolling motors allowed on the Salkehatchie River.
Rivers Bridge offers opportunities to view an historic Civil War site, camp, picnic, fish, boat, and hike.
South Carolina generally has a temperate climate, with cool winters and warm, humid summers. Snow and freezing temperatures are possible in the winter at the higher elevations. Thunderstorms are possible throughout the year but most common in the spring and summer. Tropical storms occasionally strike the coast during the hurricane season.
