Lee State Park, built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps, is a gateway to the state scenic Lynches River. Other natural features in the park include a vast hardwood floodplain forest, numerous artesian springs, and sandhills habitat. A variety of plants and animals are found throughout the park. Other visitor amenities include a campground, equestrian facilities and a picnic area. The park has a campground with 25 sites, and two picnic shelters, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Some sites can accommodate RV's up to 36 feet. The park offers a short nature trail, equestrian stables, and a 12 mile nature trail. Enjoy fishing in Lynches River for bream, catfish, bass.
Lee State Park offers opportunities for horseback riding, camping, fishing, hiking and picnicking.
South Carolina generally has a temperate climate, with cool winters and warm, humid summers. Snow and freezing temperatures are possible in the winter at the higher elevations. Thunderstorms are possible throughout the year but most common in the spring and summer. Tropical storms occasionally strike the coast during the hurricane season.
