Zipping down Highway 58 east of Eugene, you suddenly find yourself driving along side a long, skinny reservoir. In spring, summer and fall, the Dexter and Lookout Point Reservoirs are dotted with boats.

Whether you like to picnic, fish, boat or just walk, you'll find a pair of convenient day-use parks on the lake. Lowell, accessible by crossing over the reservoir at the Lowell turn-off from Highway 58, is a great place to take a break. Picnic areas, a short walking trail, boat access, a dock, a marina, a marina concession and a playground are just a few of the amenities packed into this small park.

Vital stats: There is no fee to use this park unless you want to reserve the group picnic area. A fee is charged and the shelter holds up to 150 people.

This recreation site is a great place for swimming, fishing, boating or even just to sit down and have a relaxing picnic.

Climate in this region changes with elevation. The area receives a high amount of precipitation. Much of the precipitation comes from October to April in the form of rain at the low elevations and as wet heavy snow in the higher elevations. Winter temperatures are normally cool at the lower elevations and cold at the higher elevations. Although snow is possible in the lowest elevations, it is infrequent and does not stay on the ground for long. Late spring, summer and early autumn bring the best chance for clear, sunny days and bring moderate temperatures.
