A few miles south of Waldport and north of Yachats on the central coast, this small, exquisite destination campground is right along side miles of broad, sandy beach.

Tent and electric sites accommodate one vehicle per site. Every site is mere seconds from the beach, which makes the park perfect for watching storms, sunsets and whales.

Beachside is an excellent midpoint stop as you take a jaunt on the coast. Within 30 miles in either direction, you'll find visitor centers, tide pools, hiking and driving tours, three lighthouses, crabbing, clamming, fishing, aquaria and science centers.

Vital stats: Open March-November. 32 electrical, 50 tent (maximum site 30 feet); 2 yurts; and a hiker/biker camp. For information only, call (541)563-3220 or (800) 551-6949. For reservations call 1-800-452-5687.

Beachside offers RV and walk/bike-in camping, yurt stays, picnicking, beach access and activities, hiking, biking, viewing wildlife, bird watching, and viewing scenery.

The Oregon coast receives abundant rainfall, mostly between October and April. July and August bring the best chance for clear days. Summer temperatures are normally moderate and almost never hot. Winter temperatures are normally cool at the lower elevations and cold at the higher elevations. Although snow is possible in the lowest elevations, it is infrequent and does not stay on the ground for long.
