Crowders Mountain State Park is one of North Carolina's busiest parks due to its close proximity to Charlotte, the tremendous scenery and its rock climbing opportunities. There are two major summits, Crowders Mountain at 1,625 feet and Kings Pinnacle at 1,705 feet. There is no climbing on Kings Pinnacle while Crowders Mountain's major feature is climbing. Because of the summits, this is a favorite spring time location for bird-watchers.
Park Hours: November-February 8 am-6 pm; March / October 8 am - 7 pm; April, May, September 8 am - 8 pm; June-August 8 am - 9 pm. Office hours: 8 am-5 pm daily. Gates will remain locked, except in emergency situations, when the park is not in operation. Please plan accordingly. The park is closed Christmas Day.
The park offers a small 9-acre lake offering bass and bream fishing and canoe rentals during the summer months. Swimming is not permitted. There are wonderfully secluded single unit and group camp sites. However, there is no RV camping. Hiking and climbing are major features of this park, but there are no bridle or mountain bike trails.
Join a ranger for a regularly scheduled hike or educational program.
