Taconic State Park is a beautiful wooded park located along the border of Massachusetts and Connecticut. Two developed areas are offered. The Rudd Pond Area of Taconic State Park features a campground for tents and RVs, a pleasant sandy swimming beach, fishing, boat launch and rentals, a picnic grove and a children's playground. The trail system is available to hikers, bikers and cross-country skiers. Ice skating is a popular wintertime recreation.

The Rudd Pond Area of Taconic State Park is a beautiful woodland park resting on the shores of a large pond. It features a campground for tents and RVs, a pleasant sandy swimming beach, fishing, boat launch and rentals, a picnic grove and a children's playground. The trail system is available to hikers, bikers and cross-country skiers. Ice skating is a popular wintertime recreation.

The Rudd Pond Area of Taconic State Park offers a swimming beach, boat launch, boat rental, picnic grove, a children's playground, campground with showers, hiking and biking trails, fishing, deer hunting and ice skating. The park is open for day use year-round, weather and conditions permitting. Deer hunting is allowed in season. The camping season runs from mid-May to Labor Day.

The Taconic State Park area has a varied climate with average January temperatures ranging from above 22 degrees down to 18 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt.
