Seneca Lake State Park is located at the northern point of Seneca Lake, one of the largest of the eleven Finger Lakes. A variety of land-oriented and water-oriented sports are enjoyed. Two marinas offer a wide range of services to the public. A large swimming beach is enjoyed by thousands each year. The park sits along the mouth of the lake and Seneca River. Boaters love this area; two mooring facilities are highly sought after. Swimmers and picnickers flock to this area in the warmer months to enjoy the panoramic views over the sprawling waters. A bike trail offers a wonderful woodland excursion mingled with sights of the busy lake and open skies.
Seneca Lake State Park offers a large swimming beach, bicycle route, a boat launch site, dockage, trout and a variety of trophy fishing, ice fishing, a marina, a picnic grove, play fields, a children's playground and many other water-oriented sports including sailing and power boating. Season for boat slips runs from April 1 through the third week in October.
The Seneca Lake area experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). It is important to note that this area receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation. Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from less than 36 inches to approximately 40 inches of rain and snowmelt.
