Robert Moses State Park - Barnhart Island is located along the St. Lawrence Seaway 3 miles north of Massena off SR 131. Visitors reach the park through a tunnel under the Eisenhower Lock. This beautiful park is home to a variety of wildlife and plant life. Recreational opportunities include a campground and cabins, a boat launch and marina, some of the best fishing in the Northeast, picnic areas, a swimming beach, tennis courts and a nature museum.

Robert Moses State Park is located partly on the mainland and partly on Barnhart Island. Visitors reach the park through a tunnel under the Eisenhower Lock. The park is spacious, home to a large variety of flora and fauna and offers a multitude of recreational opportunities.

Robert Moses State Park offers a swimming beach, bike paths, hiking trails, a nature trail, wildlife viewing, boat launch site, boat rental, cabin rental, camper recreation programs, fishing, marina, power boating, museum, picnic area with shelters, tennis courts, a children's playground, campground with showers, and winter sports including cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The park is open year round with the camping season opening in mid-May and continuing through Columbus Day. The swimming beach is open from late June through Labor Day. The marina operates from Memorial Day through September.

This area has a varied climate with average January temperatures ranging from below 14 degrees reaching to 22 degrees Fahrenheit (below -10 to -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average between 72 degrees and below 68 degrees Fahrenheit (22 to below 20 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from less than 36 to 40 inches of rain and snowmelt.
