Point Au Roche State Park is located on the beautiful northwestern shore of Lake Champlain amidst an environment of forest and wetland. Much of the park remains natural and undeveloped. Day use amenities include boating, fishing, swimming, play fields and multi-use trails. Environmental programs are offered to school groups with advance notice. The park is open for winter sporting opportunities.

Point Au Roche State Park, on the northwestern shore of Lake Champlain, is a mixture of open and forested areas, most of them natural and undeveloped. The park's large day use area has a protected, sandy beach, picnic facilities and concession stand. Boating and fishing are popular activities, as are volleyball, softball and other games. The staffed Nature Center offers a variety of programs open to the public all year. The park's trails, including nature, hiking and biking trails, wind through interesting habitats, from forest to marsh to shoreline. The trails are in use all year for school programs, nature hikes and cross-country skiing. The park also provides access for ice fishing.

Point Au Roche State Park offers a swimming beach, bike trail, hiking trails, a nature trail, wildlife viewing, boat launch site, fishing, power boating, picnic area with shelters, a children's playground and play areas, recreation programs and showers. The park is open for cross-country skiing and ice fishing in winter. The park is open year round with the concession stand opening mid-May and closing Labor Day. Lifeguards are on duty for swimming from mid-June through Labor Day.

This area has a varied climate with average January temperatures ranging from below 14 degrees reaching to 22 degrees Fahrenheit (below -10 to -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average between 72 degrees and below 68 degrees Fahrenheit (22 to below 20 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from less than 36 to 40 inches of rain and snowmelt.
