As America's oldest state park, Niagara Reservation leads the vision of preserving a treasured natural attraction . The park is made up of numerous islands, as well as the famous Prospect Point area. A visitor center greets folks entering the park offering information and exhibits about the park's history, geology and technology. The Observation Tower has elevators that take visitors 80 feet above street level to view the falls and 180 feet down to the base of the tower for a close-up view of the American Falls. Visitors also enjoy the world famous Maid of the Mist Boat and the Cave of the Winds attraction.Niagara Reservation State Park, which surrounds the mighty Niagara Falls, is the oldest state park in the United States. The open-air Viewmobile provides three-mile guided tours, stopping at the park's most scenic vistas and at such facilities as the Schoellkopf Geological Museum, which tells the story of the creation of the falls with exhibits and a multiscreen theater presentation. Niagara Reservation State Park offers sights of one of America's most fabulous natural attractions. A wide range of activities include biking, fishing, hiking, picnic tables, recreation programs, a museum and gift shop and winter cross-country skiing.
The Niagara Reservation area experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). It is important to note that this area receives some of the heaviest snowfalls in the nation. Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from less than 36 inches to approximately 40 inches of rain and snowmelt.
