Highland Lakes State Park consists of more than 3,000 acres of undeveloped woods and lakes in Orange County. At present, there are no set hours. Visitors use the park for fishing, hiking, horseback riding and flying model planes. Use of the bridle path requires a permit. No restrooms provided. Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. The central Catskills receive the highest precipitation.
