High Tor State Park is located along the ridges of South Mountain and used as a day use park for hiking, picnicking, swimming and viewing the sprawling Hudson River. The Long Path passes through the park just before the trail heads inland to the Catskills. This park is open from June to September.

High Tor State Park offers access to the Long Path. It also offers an opportunity to picnic and swim from June to September. The park is well-known for its wonderful scenery. No other amenities offered. Ice fishing is permitted.

The High Tor State Park area experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (around 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. The central Catskills receive the highest precipitation.
