Allegany State Park - Quaker Area has been referred to as "The Wilderness Playground of Western New York." The abundant outdoor opportunities and overnight lodging facilities attract thousands each year. This park is well-know for its snowmobiling opportunities in addition to its bridal and hiking trails, fishing and swimming opportunities and beautiful scenery.Allegany State Park - Quaker Area lies in western New York above Pennsylvania and along the shores of the Allegany Reservoir within the Allegheny Plateau. This beautiful area with its rolling hills, mountain tops, beautiful streams and lakes, along with a wide range of park amenities and literally hundreds of cabins and campsites, results in thousands of visitors each year.
Visitors enjoy year-round outdoor activities at Allegany State Park. Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are very popular in winter. A bridal path and hiking trails are enjoyed in warmer months. Swimming, fishing and power boating are enjoyed amidst rolling hills and mountains. Overnight stays at a well-equipped cabin (230 cabins, 30 winterized) or a spacious campsite (189 sites) or camping at the one group campground is also available. An old Quaker Store has been fully restored and serves as the park museum.

Summer temperatures average above 68 degrees Fahrenheit (above 22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt.
